SmartStart Education is seeking a Special Education Teacher's Aide to work with small groups of elementary, middle, and/or high school students, supporting their academic and social-emotional development. This role is ideal for individuals passionate about working with diverse student populations and committed to helping every learner succeed.
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary Range: $17.49 hourly to $19.43 hourly
Schedule: Monday – Friday, either 7:30am – 2:15pm or 8am – 2:30pm (based on school site)
Collaborate with Special Education teachers to support each student's specific needs.
Assist in the development and implementation of instructional materials and activities designed to enhance academic, social, and emotional growth.
Monitor student progress and behavior, documenting observations and reporting findings to the supervising teacher.
Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere to privacy laws and school policies.
Assist with the organization and management of classroom materials and resources.
Collaborate with other school staff, such as therapists, counselors, and administrators, to support student development.
Attend training sessions, workshops, and meetings as required to enhance professional skills and knowledge.
Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution in any field is mandatory. ***Please note that applications with anticipated graduation dates will not be considered.
Demonstrated experience of at least 6 months in teaching, tutoring, coaching or advising youth, either within a school environment or another learning and development setting.
Comprehensive understanding of the unique challenges faced by urban students, schools, and communities, encompassing racial disparity, socio-economic disparity, and cultural disparity.
Ability to comfortably navigate a school environment, including walking through hallways, classrooms, and stairways throughout the workday.
