HR Generalist - Recruiting & Planning

By exhibiting exceptional teamwork, boundless curiosity, and the utmost care, the Retail Human Resources Advisor will assist their team to fulfil Blick’s commitment to our customers, the Arts, and our local communities.
Field Partnership & Business Support
Partner with District Managers to support stores across four districts, aligning HR strategies with business objectives
Provide coaching and guidance to Store General Managers on performance management, employee engagement, and team effectiveness
Travel to store locations to build relationships with teams, assess situations and/or provide in‑person support as able and needed
Participate in district/regional calls and business reviews to identify people‑related risks and opportunities
Employee Relations
Serve as the primary point of contact for employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, and corrective action
provide recommendations aligned with company policy and legal requirements
Coach leaders on consistent and appropriate application of policies and documentation
Performance Management
Support leaders in diagnosing performance issues and driving accountability through clear expectations and action plans
Partner on progressive discipline, terminations, and complex performance situations
Contribute to performance review cycles, ensuring consistency and quality across districts
Talent & Workforce Planning
Partner with field leadership on hiring strategies, workforce planning, and succession planning
Collaborate with recruiting to improve candidate quality and hiring outcomes
Training & Development
Support the rollout and reinforcement of training programs for Store General Managers and District Managers
Coach leaders on core management skills including feedback, coaching, and team development
Identify training needs based on trends in performance and employee relations
Compliance & Policy Execution
Ensure consistent application of company policies, procedures, and employment laws across all locations
Monitor compliance trends and proactively address risks
Partner with HR and Legal teams on policy interpretation and updates
HR Operations & Projects
Support implementation of HR initiatives, programs, and systems (e.g., performance management, engagement surveys, HRIS updates)
Analyze HR metrics (turnover, engagement, retention, etc.) Contribute to cross‑functional HR projects and continuous improvement efforts
Bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field, and/or equivalent work experience.
5+ years of HR experience, preferably in a multi‑unit retail or field environment
Strong employee relations experience, including investigations and performance management
Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws (staffing, recruiting, compensation, organization planning, employee relations, safety training, preventive labor relations)
Experience with HRIS systems (e.g., Dayforce or similar) and applicant tracking systems preferred
Bilingual preferred
Strong computer skills to include Excel, Word, PowerPoint
Must be willing to travel 50% or more
