As a Mechanical Engineer on the Thermal Protection System (TPS) team, your duties will include supporting the design, manufacture, procurement and test for Thermal Protection Systems, either in an oversight role for supplier-provided components, or as a direct production interface for in-house components. This job requires coordinating with customers, suppliers, test facilities, and other related disciplines including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure design, analysis, systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and facilities. Other duties may include,Assist on the conceptual development, requirements definition, and design of TPS solutionsMaintain engineering drawings, specifications, and technical analyses necessary to support systems and componentsSupport test efforts, including the creation of test plans & reportsThe information below reflects the standard job description for this position:Researches, plans, designs and develops mechanical products and systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines and mechanical, thermal hydraulic or heat transfer systems for production, transmission, measurement, and use of energy. Applies research to the planning, design, development, and testing of mechanical and/or electromechanical systems, instruments, controls, engines, and/or machines.Basic QualificationsRelevant experience and education as a mechanical, materials, or related engineer in a design, manufacturing and/or production related roleRelevant experience in materials development activities in aerospace applicationsMicrosoft Office suite of tools (PowerPoint, Excel, etc)Ability to obtain a Secret clearanceDesired SkillsProven self-starter with demonstrated capability to proactively work through difficult technical design constraintsExperience with frequent customer interface and leadership interfaceExperience with test planning & executionExperience with manufacturing and Design for XDemonstrated performance of being part of program development reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR)Experience with Model Based Engineering PracticesProject management knowledge with Risks and Opps, Earned Value, schedule inputs, estimating resourcesProficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practicePay InformationFull-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00At Lockheed Martin, we know mission success starts with taking care of our people.
