Description
American Traveler is hiring an experienced Oncology RN for an Infusion and Med Oncology outpatient clinic requiring current chemo certification and Epic Ambulatory experience.
Details

• Outpatient infusion clinic with 32 chairs within the Cancer Care Institute
• Medical oncology and chemotherapy infusion patient population including solid tumor, GYN, breast, and hematology cancer types
• Caseload of 5-8 patients per day, with a maximum of 3-4 patients at a time
• 10-hour day shifts, alternating between 0800-1630 and 0830-1700
• No weekends, no call, and no major holiday coverage required (minor holidays worked if clinic is open)
• Floating required to other clinics within the Cancer Care Institute as needed
• Uses Epic Ambulatory charting system and Omnicell for medication dispensing

Requirements

• Active RN license (South Dakota or Compact) required
• BLS certification required
• ONS chemo certification required
• OCN certification preferred
• Minimum 1.5 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year of current outpatient infusion oncology experience
• Broad oncology experience across multiple cancer types required; highly specialized experience (e.g., BMT) alone is not a sufficient match
• 1+ year of Epic Ambulatory experience required
• Comfortable with chemotherapy infusion administration, chart checks, rooming patients, vital signs, weight checks, review of systems, and medication reconciliation

Additional Information
Responsibilities include administering chemotherapy infusions, patient education, symptom management, and self-assigning patients to maintain equitable team workload
Strong communication and teamwork skills required, including coordinating with charge nurse on communications and reactions
Support available on-site from department leadership, charge nurse, pharmacy, resource nurse, scheduler, physicians, CNPs, and rapid response/code team
Departmental orientation typically lasts 3-5 days, subject to change based on skillset
Navy blue scrubs required
Free parking available
First-time travelers not accepted; candidates must have completed at least two 13-week travel assignments
Candidates must reside more than 100 miles from the facility to be eligible for the travel position
Former permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a traveler
Facility is known to be very traveler-friendly and frequently renews travel contracts
