Ansonia (Connecticut) School District anticipates an opening. for a Full time (35 hours per week) school nurse (RN) . Hourly rate is per contract.
Description: Duties and responsibilities include: monitoring school health assessments and immunizations, annual vision and hearing screenings, administration of medication and emergency first aid care, developing Emergency Care Plans and Individualized Health Care Plans, and provide counseling and health education to students and staff.
Environment:

Office environment: Subject to constant interruptions
Requires student contact at school sites
Exposure to an array of childhood ailments, diseases, and bodily fluids
Physical Requirements:
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate medical equipment, computer and other office equipment
Sitting or standing for extended periods of time and walking to various locations at the assigned school
Kneeling and bending, and reaching horizontally and overhead
Lifting and carrying objects weighing up to 30 pounds
Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person and on the phone
May be required to assist students experiencing physical difficulties
Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner in the building as well as outside the building

Requirements: Experience using a computerized documentation system is preferred. Have current Professional Rescuer CPR/ AED certificate and current CT registered nurse license. Experience needs to include at least the equivalent of one year full-time working experience as RN within five years immediately prior to employment as a school nurse.
