Full Time Human Resource Generalist

Hensel Phelps is hiring a Human Resource Generalist for an onsite role in Greeley, CO . In this forward-facing position, you will help managers, employees, and applicants understand HR processes while supporting a range of HR operations, compliance documentation, and reporting. You will also play a key role in maintaining accurate HRIS records and strengthening HR capability through training and learning measurement.
Role Overview Under the guidance of HR leadership, this position provides technical HR assistance across employee relations, onboarding support, recruitment coordination, and compliance-related workflows. The role also supports HR reporting cadence, standardized processes, and regional talent acquisition efforts through communication and coaching as needed.
What You’ll Do Support supervisors and employees on common employee relations issues, including performance management, terminations, leave of absences, and corrective action, with direction from the HR Director
Help integrate HR programs, policies, and procedures by communicating appropriately with managers and employees
Build productive internal relationships across the organization
Assist with development and proper distribution of the Employee Handbook and related materials, including consent and acknowledgements and annual regulatory compliance requirements as assigned
Provide technical assistance on HR processes, procedures, and systems to maintain compliance with state and federal laws, including COBRA, FLSA, ACA, ADA, OFCCP, ERISA, FMLA, and HIPPA
Complete required monthly and quarterly HR reporting tied to topics such as turnover and exit interview trends
Improve efficiency through standardized reporting, communication, and established processes
Serve as a liaison and resource for regional talent acquisition managers (TAMs)
Provide general guidance, technical assistance, and coaching as needed
Work with managers, supervisors, and employees to improve long‑term employee capabilities by delivering trainings on HR, management, and leadership topics
Assist in measuring learning effectiveness and employee development to support job‑related skill growth and compliance
Maintain HRIS records by entering and updating employee information, including personal data, compensation, benefits, attendance, performance reviews or evaluations, and termination date and reason
Update employee files to document personnel actions and support payroll and other related uses

Requirements 5+ years of job‑related experience as a talent acquisition/recruiting professional, human resources specialist, or human resources generalist
Experience building compliance programs and administering compliance functions
Knowledge of state and federal laws including COBRA, FLSA, ACA, ADA, OFCCP, ERISA, FMLA, and HIPPA
Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Ability to be proactive and work with minimal supervision
Ability to communicate effectively and present regarding potentially controversial issues using tact and forethought to influence positive outcomes
Ability to read and interpret dictated letters or memoranda, invoices, company policies, legal notices, legal interpretations, and other employment and legal documentation
Experience collaborating with hiring managers
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out written or oral instructions and address problems involving a few concrete variables
Strong leadership and mentoring skills
Competent mathematical skills for calculations using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rates, ratios, and percents
Ability to ensure compliance with equal employment opportunity, wage and hour, Department of Labor, and Office of Federal Contract Compliance regulations
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity and consistency
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Experience leveraging Applicant Tracking Systems and Human Resource Information Systems

Passion for human resources with a desire to grow the function from the ground up
Preferred: PHR or SHRM-CP certification
Education: Master’s degree in business administration, human resources, or organizational leadership
