Other facilities may be assigned as needed.Essential Duties: These job functions are the essential duties of the position and are not all-inclusive of all the duties the incumbent may be assigned.Duty I: Facilities Custodial85%TimeEssentialThe incumbent performs several custodial duties.Clean and sanitize rest room facilities and fixtures including sinks, urinals, and toiletsReplenish restroom suppliesSweep, vacuum, mop, wax, strip, and polish floors and stairsVacuum and shampoo carpetsDust and polish furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipmentWash windows, mirrors, and wallsClean desks and countertopsEmpty, clean and sanitize waste receptacles and ash traysClean areas around the buildings, removing trash and obstacles and sweeping walkwaysDuty 2: Facilities Operations5% TimeEssentialThis position performs functions related to activities of the building, tenants, and facilities department.Set up rooms for conferences, meetings, and special eventsMoving and arranging furniture and equipmentMonitor room activities, ensuring fire and safety codes are met and prevent damage to buildingLock up and secure the building each eveningDeliver mail to post officeDuty 3: Facilities Maintenance5%TimeSecondary DutiesThis position is responsible for participating in routine building maintenance.Patch and paint walls and woodworkGeneral maintenance such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting shades, etc.Identify and report maintenance needs in assigned facilityRemoving snow and ice from walkways, stairs, and parking lotsDuty 4: Administrative Responsibilities5% TimeSecondary DutiesTasks:Check email and other communications dailyAttend regular staff meetings and trainingsResearch products and order suppliesComplete basic logs and reports on work progressEssential Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesEssential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Related to this Position:Knowledge of:• Practices, methods, equipment, tools, chemicals, and materials used in custodial work and routine building maintenance or light construction.Skill or ability to:• Operate a variety of custodial and building maintenance equipment safely and effectively• Understand and follow oral and written directions• Work independently in the absence of supervision• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing• Establish, maintain, and foster positive and harmonious working relationships with those contacted in the course of work• Skill and ability to perform routine electrical, carpentry, plumbing, painting and repair duties preferred.Physical Demands:Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel, crouch, stoop, squat, crawl, twist, climb, and lift 70 lbs.; exposure to cold, heat, noise, outdoors, chemicals, dust, mechanical hazards, and electrical hazards; availability for shift work, on-call, and call back.Safety:Performs all functions in the safest possible manner and according to policies and procedures. Participates fully with safety trainings. Reports unsafe work conditions and practices, work-related injuries, illnesses, and near-misses as soon as possible to assigned supervisor.Minimum Qualifications (Education, Experience and Training):This position requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent and prefers one year of custodial and building maintenance experience. Other relevant combinations of education and work experience may be evaluated on an individual basis.
