Nurse Informaticist - Full Time

Registered Nurse InformaticistTownsen Memorial is hiring for a full-time Registered Nurse Informaticist role in our new Houston, TX location. The Registered Nurse Informaticist is responsible for serving as the vital link between clinical care and healthcare technology. This role oversees the development, implementation, optimization, and evaluation of clinical information systems to enhance patient outcomes, streamline workflows, and ensure regulatory compliance.Partner with clinical and IT teams to optimize Electronic Health Records (EHR) and other health technologiesLead or support system implementations, upgrades, and optimization projects aligned with clinical workflowsProvide training and ongoing support to clinical staff on health information systemsAnalyze clinical data to drive quality improvement and patient safety initiativesAct as a liaison among nursing staff, providers, IT, and administrative departmentsConduct testing and validation of clinical systems and software upgradesDevelop and maintain documentation, policies, and procedures for clinical system usageEnsure compliance with regulations such as HIPAA, CMS, CHIQ, and Meaningful UseMonitor user feedback and system performance to identify and recommend improvementsCollaborate on the design and customization of clinical decision support tools (e.g., alerts, order sets, protocols)Contribute to change management strategies and stakeholder engagement during system transitionsSupport data governance initiatives and ensure integrity and standardization of clinical documentationAssist in research projects or grant initiatives involving clinical data or health IT systemsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:In-depth knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech) and clinical documentation standardsStrong understanding of clinical workflows and hospital operations across care settingsKnowledge of healthcare regulatory, privacy, and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission)Proficiency in interpreting clinical data and applying health information standards (HL7, FHIR, SNOMED, LOINC)Strong clinical reasoning, critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills with attention to detailExcellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills, including teaching and coaching abilitiesStrong organization, multitasking, time management, and teamwork skillsFlexibility, adaptability, and resilience in dynamic healthcare environmentsEducation and Experience:Bachelor of Science in NursingRegistered Nurse in the State of TexasThree (3) years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care settingTwo (2) years of nursing informatics experience, including involvement in EHR system implementation, optimization, or clinical data analysisBasic Life Support (BLS) certified or must be obtained within thirty (30) days of hireBenefits:3 Medical Plans2 Dental Plans1 Vision PlanEmployee Assistance ProgramShort and Long-Term Disability InsuranceBasic and Voluntary Life with AD&D Plan401(k) with a 2-year vestingPTO + HolidaysTownsen Memorial Hospital is an accredited network of facilities with an emphasis on emergency care, outpatient surgery, and diagnostics and imaging.
