RN - PT Weekend

About the Role

River Vista Behavioral Health, a brand new 128‑bed facility overlooking the San Joaquin River, seeks forward‑thinking and compassionate registered nurses to join the Nursing Team. The Staff Nurse (R.N.) is a registered professional nurse who prescribes, coordinates, and evaluates patient care through collaborative efforts with health team members in accordance with the nursing process and established standards of care.

Location

Child and Adolescent Unit only, Madera, California.

Compensation

USD$50.00/Hr. – USD$55.00/Hr.

Responsibilities

Document patient information and nursing care in the provision of nursing services.

Document and reassess significant changes in the patient’s condition in compliance with facility policy.

Report signs or symptoms of infection to the Infection Control Nurse.

Verify accuracy of patient records.

Employ principles of communication, interviewing techniques, and crisis intervention during psychotherapeutic interventions.

Accurately administer medication and transcribe physician’s orders.

Utilize appropriate interventions during psychiatric and medical emergencies.

Participate in interdisciplinary treatment planning with measurable goals.

Prioritize and revise care plans as goals are met or conditions change.

Assure patients are adequately oriented, monitor activity, and maintain therapeutic environment.

Conduct structured didactic groups with patients and families.

Provide education on communication, interpersonal skills, and basic health principles.

Document discharge instructions and evaluate teaching effectiveness.

Participate in quality assurance programs and collaborate with team members.

Act as the patient’s advocate and uphold patient rights.

Comply with infection control, OSHA regulations and risk‑management policies.

Utilize time constructively; attend mandatory educational programs.

Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

Graduate from an accredited professional nursing program; Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum three (3) years of experience in a behavioral health–care facility.

Current California State Board of Nursing license.

CPR certification and completion of Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training.

Knowledge of personal hygiene training techniques, psychiatric care, and assaultive behavior management.

Effective oral and written communication skills.

Ability to work as a team player and adapt to diverse patient age groups.

Physical ability to stand, sit, walk and lift up to 25 lb; must work every other weekend.

Special Standards

Specific standards apply for child, adolescent, adult, geriatric and chemically dependent patients, including appropriate use of seclusion and restraint procedures and age‑appropriate communication.

Physical, Mental, and Special Demands

Requirements include hearing, vision, endurance to work outdoors/indoors during varying temperatures, moving, lifting, operating a stethoscope, and adherence to safety and infection control protocols.
