HOSPITAL SHIFTS: REGISTERED NURSES

Job Title

Job Description: This position involves working in the Labor and Delivery unit at SEH. The unit has 4 LDRP beds, 1 OR suite for C-sections, 2 triage beds, and 3 postpartum beds. The unit sees approximately 0-2 births per day and about 200 per year. The hospital follows AWHONN guidelines for ratios as much as possible for a rural hospital. Required certifications include ALS, NRP, and AWHONN EFM. The primary focus is on caring for pregnant women and newborns, with a need for 1 year of L&D experience and the ability to triage and function as the baby catcher/transition nurse. RNs are required to titrate drips, and the charge nurse takes an assignment. Anesthesia is in-house during regular business hours and on-call after hours. RT equipment is available but not always on-site. There are no Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit, and RNs are required to read their own strips. The shift is 6p-6a with some self-scheduling but may be moved for unit needs. Weekend and holiday requirements include half of all weekends and half of winter holidays. There is no call or standby requirement, and floating to medsurg is rare. Scrubs are not provided, and there is no color requirement. Unit/department specific orientation is 3 days.
