Mortgage Loan Officer

Responsible for creating an exceptional member experience through origination of long-term mortgage loans, real estate, lot, construction, and home equity loans.

Conducts initial pre-qualification interviews and prepares complete loan application packages and necessary documentation.

Conveys policies for extension of credit in accordance with compliance with FNMA, FHA, VA, GNMA and/or Kirtland Credit Union (KCU) guidelines/policies.

Interviews, takes applications, and processes preliminary documentation on mortgage and home equity loan requests.

Discusses loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation in such a manner as to elicit positive responses from members.

Effectively manages application pipeline to efficiently initiate mortgage applications within established service level standards.

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective and professional business relations with members, realtors, home construction and other mortgage industry professionals such as appraisers, escrow officers, and title companies.

Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Credit Union personnel and with management.

Bachelor's degree in business or related field preferred.

Three-five years of experience working with mortgage and home equity loans preferred.

Strong understanding of credit analysis, mortgage underwriting guidelines and mortgage loan qualifications.

Proficient with mortgage products, regulations, and processes for Conventional, FHA, VA, and Adjustable-Rate Mortgages.

Strong knowledge in determining credit worthiness and analyzing credit reports.

Proficient with all mortgage calculations.

Knowledge of Credit Union loan policies, products, procedures, processing,

Thorough knowledge of Federal mortgage-related laws: Homeownership and Equity Protection Act (HOEPA); Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA); Fair Credit Reporting Act (FRCA); Gramm-Leach-Bliley Financial Modernization Act (GLBA-Regulation P); Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA-Regulation C); Mortgage Disclosure Improvement Act (MDIA); Housing and Economic Recovery Act; New Ability-to-Repay Requirements and Qualified Mortgage Standards.

Proficient with mortgage products, regulations, and processes for Conventional, FHA, VA, and Adjustable-Rate Mortgages.

Proficient with home equity loans and home equity lines of credit, preferred.
