Job Description:

Basic Function and Responsibility: Under general supervision, provide short-term counseling and crisis intervention for students, and consultation to faculty and staff regarding student issues and concerns.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

Provide short-term counseling for Oakton students and make appropriate referrals for students in need of mental health services outside of Counseling Services scope of practice

Participate in On-Call system and respond to student crises.

Provide training, consultation and psycho-education to faculty and staff related to student wellness and mental health.

Maintain counseling documentation, adhering to professional standards.

Coordinate or lead an operational duty of Counseling Services. Examples include, programming schedule, groups, peer consultation or a dedicated liaison-ship.

Plan and conduct programs/outreach to different college community populations.

Maintain licensure through completing required continuing education.

Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the Coordinator of Counseling Services or Dean.

Supervision Received: Functional supervision is received from the Coordinator of Counseling Services. Administrative supervision is received from the Dean of Counseling, Health and Wellness Services

Supervision Exercised: Functional supervision may be exercised over student employees. Clinical supervision may be exercised over graduate interns.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Working Conditions:

Master's degree is required, preferably in social work, counseling, psychology, or related field.

Licensed mental health practitioner, preferably LCPC, LCSW or Licensed Psychologist

One or more years of successful counseling experience, preferably in a college setting, is necessary.

A high level of interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to write and present educational programs and to make presentations to large groups. Incumbent must be able to give and receive advice and opinions and interact with individuals in situations requiring sensitivity and tact.

Ability to work flexible hours including some evening hours consistent with student needs is necessary.

Ability to utilize a keyboard to enter, maintain and manipulate data in a personal computer is required.

General office environment. Little or no exposure to adverse working conditions.

Additional Information:

Hourly: $37.81

Schedule 25 hours per week 9:00-5:00 (3 Days)
