Compliance Auditor - Full-time

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) Waco District seeks a Construction Records Auditor I.

Job Overview

This role audits construction project records, verifies contractor compliance with state and federal requirements, and trains others. The auditor works independently, collaborating with district staff, area engineers, and other stakeholders. The position requires competence with computer software, professional communication, and timely responses via phone or email.

Key Responsibilities

Audit construction project records and verify contractor compliance with state and federal requirements.

Serve as District DBE Coordinator as needed.

Monitor material testing requirements, results, and reports for compliance with specifications and standards.

Participate in meetings regarding contract administration.

Coordinate with area engineers on monthly and final estimates, change orders, supplemental agreements, and work orders.

Prepare related correspondence and reports.

Verify contractors' compliance with EEO and on‑the‑job training, DBE, and SE programs.

Perform other job responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduate or equivalent.

Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a state vehicle.

Knowledge of governmental policies, auditing and investigative methods, EEO guidelines, preparation of technical and statistical reports, use of standard office equipment, and confidential record handling.

Proficiency in computer applications and systems.

Ability to maintain safe and effective working relationships with others.

Physical Requirements

Sedentary work, lifting up to 10 lbs, and occasional carrying of files or small tools.

Repetitive motion involving substantial movements of wrists, hands, and fingers.

Salary and Benefits

Construction Records Auditor I (Grade B18): $42,521 – $71,055 annually.

Work Location and Hours

Waco District Headquarters, 100 South Loop Drive, Waco, TX 76704‑2858. Travel required up to 10 % of the time. Shift: Mon‑Fri, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Position is onsite.
