Physician (Gastroenterologist)

The Minneapolis VA Health Care System (MVAHCS) is seeking a full-time physician (gastroenterologist) to join the Specialty Care Service Line at the MVAMC in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A successful candidate would be self-motivated and dedicated with broad knowledge of gastroenterology and hepatology. Strong endoscopic skills including that of diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy and endoscopy are required.

The key duties of the job include outpatient and inpatient GI consultation, inpatient and outpatient procedures, some administrative roles and options for research and education. Overnight and weekend call is manageable and supported by GI fellow. The candidate would be eligible for academic appointment at the University of Minnesota and expected to participate in the teaching and mentoring of gastroenterology fellows, medical residents, and medical students.

The candidate must be proficient at routine GI procedures such as: colonoscopy, EGD and capsule endoscopy, and its associated interventions (polypectomy, esophageal dilation, etc...). You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 50-55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5 day paid absence for CME)
