Work Hours
Full Time | 7:30 am - 4:30 pm or 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

The Diagnostic Sonographer is responsible for the independent operation of sonography equipment to create necessary images and obtain measurements. The individual must maintain a high degree of accuracy in positioning and scanning technique, communicate with the patient, relay any pertinent information to the radiologist, and document on the tracking sheet/chart. The sonographer also understands and performs any necessary additional exams as directed by the radiologist.

Here Is What You Will Need

Education: Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. For exceptions and training outside the US, educational requirements will be reviewed on a case‑by‑case basis and require HR approval.

Certificates: Active certification with ARDMS (SPI only is not eligible for hire) or ARRT(S). ARRT‑BS is also acceptable if performing breast sonography only. Current compliance with CME requirements. Exceptions require HR approval.

Computer Skills: Knowledge of database software and RIS/PACS software.

Physical demands: Needs to be able to stand for long periods of time.

A Day in the Life of a Breast Sonographer

Provide services and support for the following areas:

Understand, promote and demonstrate the Solis Way

Produce high-quality ultrasound images and obtain appropriate measurements for each exam

Document all applicable patient and procedure data consistently and correctly

Explain procedures adequately to patients to maximize patient comfort and cooperation

Appropriate monitoring during all phases of the procedure with special care taken to ensure patient emotional and physical well‑being

Assist and/or chaperone radiologist when they are performing ultrasound exams

Assist radiologists during ultrasound biopsy procedures using appropriate sterile technique and universal precautions

Communicate patient information in a professional and courteous manner to patients and to referring physicians’ offices as required.

Maintain the ultrasound equipment for cleanliness and ensure proper equipment maintenance and safety

Maintain a good working relationship with Radiologists and other Center staff members
