Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required

Additional technical training in welding, fabrication, or related field preferred

Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) through the American Welding Society required

• 10+ years of related quality control experience in structural steel fabrication
• Thorough knowledge of fabrication standards, welding procedures, codes, and industry regulations
• Experience with AISC standards, audits, and quality assurance programs
• Inspect shop production daily to ensure compliance with contract specifications

Track repairs, non-conformance reports, corrective actions, and quality metrics

Verify incoming materials, parts, and consumables meet quality requirements

Review structural drawings and prepare RFIs prior to project kickoff

Coordinate inspections with shop leadership and third-party inspectors

Conduct welder qualification testing and maintain certification records

Perform dimensional, visual, paint, and weld inspections

Maintain inspection records and quality documentation

Identify drawing discrepancies and coordinate resolutions with project teams

Support production teams with quality standards, specifications, and fabrication requirements

Ability to walk the shop floor for extended periods

Ability to inspect welds, fabricated materials, and finished products
