Division Director of Rheumatology

The Department of Internal Medicine at Saint Louis University School of Medicine, in partnership with the SSM Health Academic Division, invites applications for the position of Division Director of Rheumatology. This is a prominent leadership opportunity for a collaborative and visionary academic physician to lead one of the Midwest’s most established and respected rheumatology programs.

The Division of Rheumatology provides comprehensive care for adult patients with a wide spectrum of conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, and other complex autoimmune and connective tissue disorders. The program serves over 7,500 patients annually and includes a dedicated rheumatology laboratory offering advanced immunologic testing.

Education and Training

The Division sponsors an ACGME-accredited Fellowship Program in Rheumatology, consistently ranked among the top 25 nationally. Fellows benefit from robust clinical exposure in high-volume outpatient settings and provide inpatient consultation at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital.

The Division Director will provide strategic, operational, and academic leadership across the division’s tripartite mission. Strengthening fellowship training programs

Promoting interdisciplinary collaboration across SLU, SLUCare, and SSM Health

Expanding research initiatives and scholarly productivity

Hold an MD, DO, or MD/PhD

Be board-certified or board-eligible in Rheumatology

Be eligible for Missouri medical licensure
