Contract | 13 Weeks | Full-Time | Onsite | 12-Hour Day Shifts | 36 Guaranteed Hours per Week
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care in a Step Down / PCU setting, managing a patient population that includes sepsis, CHF, COPD, DKA, cirrhosis, dementia, and surgical cases (urology, abdominal, ortho)
Initiate and titrate drips including insulin, heparin, and cardiac drips
Perform telemetry interpretation and pass required tele competency testing
Float within skillset as needed, including potential cross-campus float with a minimum of 2 hours notice
Adhere to every third weekend and every other holiday scheduling requirements
May be required to precept students and new hires in this teaching facility environment
Required Qualifications
Current, active compact RN license
AHA BLS, AHA ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
Minimum 2 years of RN experience, including at least 1 year of Step Down / PCU experience
At least 1 prior travel assignment required
Recent Epic EMR experience required
Demonstrated ability to interpret telemetry and manage drip initiation and titration
Preferred Experience / Skills
Experience with PIV insertion, stable home vents, chest tube and indwelling drain management, CBI, blood product administration, continuous BiPAP, and neutropenic precautions
Familiarity with stable drips such as Lasix and Protonix
Strong assessment and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage change effectively in a fast-paced environment
