Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Ortho RN for a night shift position requiring at least one year of relevant nursing experience and an active IL RN license.

Details

• Inpatient Ortho unit within a hospital setting caring for ortho and medical/surgical patients
• Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM, 3x12-hour shifts per week (36 hours)
• 6 weekend shifts required within a 6-week period
• Rotating holiday coverage required
• Floating to similar units as needed
• Utilizes EPIC charting system
• Works with ortho traction, surgical traction devices, wound vacs, drains, pouches, and urological devices

Requirements

Active Illinois RN license in good standing (temporary license accepted)

Current BLS certification (American Heart Association)

Minimum one year of relevant nursing experience required

ASN required, BSN preferred

EPIC charting experience and Level 1 Trauma experience required

Experience with wound care, patient mobility, and medication management

Additional Information

Assess ortho and medical/surgical patients every shift and develop individualized plans of care

Educate patients on wound care, mobility, self-care, medication management, and care transition needs

Coordinate with physicians and surgeons regarding patient care

Delegate and monitor interventions performed by healthcare care team (HCT) staff

Set up and manage ortho traction and surgical traction devices

Manage wound appliances including wound vacs, drains, pouches, and urological devices

Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible; local candidates not accepted

RTO not to exceed 7 total days during the 13-week contract

Previous Carle Health contingent workers must complete a 6-month break in service if they were on assignment for more than 1 year before returning
