LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE - MEDICAL ONCOLOGY NURSING

The Medical Oncology Nurse provides specialized care to cancer patients by administering treatments, monitoring progress, managing side effects, and offering emotional support. In collaboration with other healthcare professionals the Medical Oncology Nurse helps develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

Monitor vital signs, lab results, and other relevant data

Provide direct patient care, including medication administration, wound care, and other nursing interventions

Collaborate with oncologists and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized treatment plans

Ensure continuity of care throughout the treatment process

Help patients understand their treatment plan and manage side effects

Document patient assessments, treatments, and progress

Participates in educational activity related to job function annually and provides documented evidence of attendance or activity to supervisor

Communicate effectively with other healthcare professionals

Participate in research and clinical trials

Participates in Operational/Regulatory activities

Contribute to the implementation of nursing protocols and guidelines

Stay current with the latest advancements in oncology care

Employee is responsible for completing 12 oncology specific CNE's annually. (36 CNE's are required every 3 years to meet the Commission on Cancer guidelines from date of hire) CNE's are tracked by the employees nursing supervisor

2 Year/Associate Degree in Nursing, required

4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, preferred

***All RN's hired and do not currently hold a BSN will be expected to demonstrate enrollment in a bachelor's prepared nursing program within 4 years of hire. RN's licensed on or before 12/19/17 are/remain exempt from this requirement

Minimum 1 year RN experience, required

Minimum 1 year experience in Oncology, preferred

NYS Licensure as a Registered Nurse, required

Analysis & Evaluation

Occasional balancing, climbing, crouching, typing/clerical/dexterity, kneeling, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, stooping

Frequent grasping, hearing, repetitive motion, seeing/monitor/computer use, standing, talking, visual acuity (color, depth, perception), walking

Constant fit testing

Occasional bodily fluids/bloodborne exposure, chemical

Travel:

Occasional Travel - The job may require travel from time- to-time, but not on a regular basis

We are also offering a sign-on bonus for this position! The bonus amounts are based on the position type and are listed below. Current employees of Bassett Healthcare Network are not eligible and are encouraged to apply through the internal job board. Bonus Amount:

RN (excluding management) sign-on bonuses are awarded in the amount of $20,000 for full time

LPN sign on bonuses are awarded in the amount of $10,000 for full time

Fox Hospital, Bassett Medical Center, Cobleskill Regional Hospital, Little Falls Hospital, O'Connor Hospital, Valley Health Services and Valley Residential Services

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
