Pay Rate

Local: $50 – $53/hr

Traveler: $53 – $57/hr

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Med-Surg/Telemetry RN to provide comprehensive care to adult and geriatric patients, including higher-acuity and stroke/TIA populations.

Required Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of Registered Nurse experience.

Minimum 1 year of relevant Med-Surg/Telemetry experience.

First-time travelers are not accepted.

Active Tennessee RN license.

Current ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.

Minimum 1 year of EPIC experience.

Strong Med-Surg and Telemetry nursing experience.

Experience caring for adult and geriatric patients.

Willingness to work every other weekend.

Willingness to float to other units based on facility needs and skill set.

Strong assessment, critical-thinking, communication, and patient-care skills.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a Med-Surg/Telemetry setting.

Perform nursing assessments and monitor patients for changes in condition.

Care for patients with stroke, TIA, seizure, syncope, CHF, sepsis, respiratory failure, and other complex medical conditions.

Monitor telemetry and recognize and report changes in cardiac rhythm or patient status.

Administer medications safely and accurately using the Omnicell medication system.

Perform and monitor nursing interventions related to dialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and continuous bladder irrigation as appropriate.

Provide post-procedure care for patients following heart catheterization.

Monitor vital signs, neurological status, laboratory results, and overall patient condition.

Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC.

Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other members of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Educate patients and families regarding treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions.

Promote patient safety, comfort, and a positive patient experience.

Float to other units based on facility needs and the nurse’s qualifications.

Follow hospital policies, infection-control procedures, and patient-safety standards.
