Summary
Under the supervision of the Family Community Partnership Manager, the Family Service Worker conducts home visits, recruiting students for the Head Start program and providing families with a wide variety of outreach services. Acts as an advocate for Head Start families; helps families become self-sufficient, and assists in planning and implementing the social service and mental health components of the Head Start program.

4.0 hours per day/200 days per year/Lane 11 $25.52 per hour (Support Salary Table 2026-2027)
(Promotions result in a minimum 5% increase for a promotion)
GENERAL FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the Family Community Partnership Manager, the Family Service Worker conducts home visits, recruiting students for the Head Start program and providing families with a wide variety of outreach services. Acts as an advocate for Head Start families; helps families become self-sufficient, and assists in planning and implementing the social service and mental health components of the Head Start program.
QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field.
- Knowledge of human behavior and the developmental process and its various stages.
- Knowledge of parenting skills.
- Working knowledge of current community resources.
- Understanding of economically-disadvantaged and single-parent families and awareness of their individual needs.
- Ability to recommend appropriate intervention and emergency assistance to families in crisis.
- Communication skills.
- One-year of experience related to the above tasks, knowledge, skills and abilities.
- CPR and first aid certification.
- Driver's license.
- Spanish speaking preferred.
