Head of Project Management

Job Overview The Project Manager is responsible for initiating, planning, execution (monitoring/controlling), and close-down of projects. They handle all aspects of the project through its successful completion and define, schedule, control, and adjust tasks and workloads.

Key Responsibilities Responsible for all aspects of the project over the entire lifecycle (initiation, planning, execution, control, close).

Lead and direct projects, often requiring multiple resources and low to moderate functional integration.

Interface with the project sponsor and key stakeholders regularly; conduct meetings to present status, issues, risks, accomplishments, and next steps.

Interface with all areas affected by the project including end users, business leadership, technology, and vendors.

Ensure adherence to quality standards for deliverables.

Assign responsibilities, identify resources, and maintain a project schedule for timely completion.

Review and approve/deny time‑off requests to ensure coverage.

Manage and report financial aspects against budgets.

Create project management documents and involve team members as needed.

Plan, document, and manage scope, budget, issues, risks, changes, deliverables, communications, quality, and schedule.

Hold team members accountable for delivery commitments.

Manage dashboards and executive reports.

Maintain professional relationships with vendors, holding teams accountable for commitments.

Work with Program Manager to communicate status across the organization.

Track risks/issues to closure and communicate to the PMO.

Exhibit executive presence and attend leadership meetings when required.

Establish and maintain project metrics.

In absence of a Program Management Plan, develop standards and enforce compliance.

Ensure lessons learned and continuous improvement actions are captured and implemented.

Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.

5+ years full project management experience, implementing projects through a project life‑cycle process.

Proven experience independently leading medium to large, high‑priority projects (minimum $1M+, 1 year+).

Background in project participation, scheduling, and delivery.

Excellent customer service, communication, interpersonal, and documentation skills.

Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and timelines through analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Ability to elicit cooperation from management, clients, and other departments.

Capability to learn new technologies and apply them to projects.

Experience promoting a collaborative work environment through teamwork and respect.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Clear, concise communication with diverse audiences, oral and written.

High standards with low tolerance for errors and inefficiencies.

Critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and leadership capabilities.

Conflict resolution experience.

Facilitating meetings and presentations.

Mentoring and coaching project management staff.

Knowledge of performance evaluation and change management principles.

Proficient in MS Office and project management software (e.g., MS Project).

Proven leadership and organizational skills.

Strong written and verbal communication.

Excellent problem‑solving ability.

Preferred Qualifications Active PMP certification.

Environmental Expectations The position requires working indoors. Typical workweek is eight (8) hour days, five (5) days per week with some weekend work, and longer hours as needed.
