Job Summary:

Medical Surgical Floor (MS) registered nurse position in an acute care setting. This position involves providing comprehensive nursing care to adult patients with a variety of medical and surgical conditions, including trauma, orthopedic, and neurological cases. The role requires clinical expertise in neuro assessment, patient mobility, and managing assistive devices, with a focus on critical thinking and resilience during a 12-hour night shift.

Job Details:

Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.

Required Qualifications: Must have current active compact nursing license, AHA BLS certification, NIHSS certification, and at least 2 years of RN experience including one full year in ortho, neuro, or trauma nursing, with trauma level II experience. Recent EPIC charting experience required (a checkoff class will be provided).

Preferred Qualifications: Experience with chest tube and indwelling drain management, drips such as heparin, Lasix, Protonix, epidural management, PEGs/NGs, Buck's traction, pin site care, On-Q management, CIWA/BH assessments, and wound care including packing and wound vacs.

Additional Information: Unit has 44 beds with varying nurse-to-patient ratios. Staff and leadership promote a supportive environment; travelers are valued as integral team members. Nurses may be required to precept students and new hires. Cross-campus floating may be needed with a 2-hour notice, particularly between the nearby campuses in Newburgh (IN) and Henderson (KY).
