Phlebotomy Technician
Pay Range: $17.96hr - $18.45hr
Requirement/Must Have:

Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state where you will be employed as required in some states.
Minimum of 6 months’ work experience performing venipunctures in a fast paced lab or hospital setting.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
High School Diploma or GED.
Responsibilities:

Perform blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging specimens, recording maintenance data and decontamination, and updating patient information.
Collect specimens for drug screens, paternity tests, and alcohol tests.
Perform data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner.
Process billing information and collect payments when required.
Prepare all collected specimens for testing and analysis.
Maintain patient and specimen information logs.
Provide superior customer service to all patients.
Perform administrative and clerical duties as necessary.
Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.
Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collection in a clear and courteous manner.
Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
Maintain full understanding of all physician orders.
Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.
Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.
Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure accuracy.
Package specimens for transport.
Store specimen samples according to required temperature and appropriate collection containers.
Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.
Attend annual department trainings.
Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.
