Obstetrician/Gynecologist (OB/GYN Physician)

Locums OB Hospitalist Opportunity - Richmond, Virginia Position Overview Specialty: OB Hospitalist Location: Richmond, Virginia Program Start: November 2020
This is a locums OB Hospitalist opportunity within a high-volume obstetric program with strong onsite clinical support, including 24/7 in-house anesthesia, Level IV NICU, and onsite Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM).
Schedule & Coverage Physician Schedule: 24-hour shifts
Shift Changes: 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM
GYN Coverage: OB Hospitalists provide GYN coverage
Midwife Backup: OB Hospitalists provide backup coverage for midwives
Family Practice Backup: Not required
Backup for Hospitalists: Available

Clinical Responsibilities OB Hospitalists will be expected to:

Provide obstetric hospitalist coverage
Provide GYN coverage
Perform circumcisions
Provide occasional first assist
Back up midwives
Participate in deliveries and obstetric patient management
Coordinate care with onsite specialists and clinical support teams
First Assist Support First Assist Required: Occasionally
First Assist Availability: Yes
Support: First assist is provided by the hospital
Program & Volume Average Hospital Deliveries: Approximately 269 per month
Estimated Deliveries for Hospitalists: Approximately 158 per month
Estimated Hospitalist Patient Encounters: Approximately 794 per month, excluding deliveries
Clinical Resources MFM: Onsite
NICU: Level IV
Anesthesia: In-house, 24/7
Residency Program: None
