Description:
This role is for a travel RN in a progressive care unit.
The unit features 30 beds and is staffed by 65 personnel, including RNs and PCTs.
The staff consists of 1 Charge RN, 5-8 RNs, and 2-4 PCTs on the day shift,
and 1 Charge RN, 5-8 nurses, and 2-3 PCTs on the night shift.
Patient ratios typically range from 1:4, often extending to a 1:5 ratio.
The unit is equipped with telemetry, transport monitors, suction devices, feeding pumps,
tracheostomy care, bipap and cpap machines, heated high flow systems, chest tubes,
foley catheters, pacer wires, IV pumps, and SCD pumps.
The electronic medical record system used is Meditech.
Typical procedures performed in the unit include:
Post-catheters care following right and left heart catheterizations, TAVRs, ablations,
pacemaker implantations, and TR band management, as well as neurovascular checks.
Post-thoracic surgery care includes VATs/RATs, resections, lobectomies,
and chest tube management.
Pre and post-operative care is provided for open-heart surgical patients,
including CABGs, MVRs, AVRs, and aortic dissection repairs.
Vascular surgery post-operative care is also included.
The ideal candidate will be a great team player,
with high energy levels, flexibility, and adaptability.
