Job Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical Oncology
Unit Information
This is a mixed acuity PCU/MS Tele unit dedicated to caring for medical oncology patients. The unit consists of approximately 24 beds dedicated to PCU and an additional 24 beds for MS Tele.
Schedule
Qualified candidates will accept a rotating contract consisting of 12-hour shifts. Assignments may include days, nights, or a combination based on departmental needs. Shift assignments are evaluated every four weeks, though changes are not guaranteed and depend on staffing priorities at that time.
Patient Diagnoses
The patient population includes a variety of diagnoses, from solid tumors to certain blood cancers, with a high acuity level.
Professional Development
While chemotherapy competence is not required for this unit, there is a commitment to supporting your professional growth. Interested candidates will have the opportunity to attend a two-day chemotherapy training course.
Special Procedures/Unit Details
Pediatric patients are occasionally cared for on this unit, but it is primarily managed by permanent staff. Pediatric experience is not required for agency RNs.
Strong emphasis on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention for patients.

Requirements
Minimum of two years of inpatient nursing experience required; oncology experience is preferred but not mandatory.
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification is required.
Must be willing to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity levels.
Previous travel experience is preferred.

Staffing Ratios
The unit aims for staffing ratios of 1:4-5, although this may vary based on specific unit needs. Weekend shifts are subject to variability.

Prorated refunds may be available for unused future months on annual permits. Current and prior months are not refundable. Cancellation must be completed by the specified time to avoid charges.
