Comptroller/Finance/Accounting

WTTW (Chicago PBS) and WFMT (classical music radio station) are looking for a Corporate Controller to lead the accounting operations of the organization, ensuring accurate and timely financial information for the purposes of internal and external reporting and compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise finance/accounting staff

Propose accounting process improvements

Recommend, implement, and maintain accounting policies and controls

Work with accounting firm to prepare annual tax returns

Prepare financial statements and regulatory information including divisional schedules and/or statements

Plan and implement annual audits with independent external auditors

Assist FP&A team with any accounting data requests

File timely financial regulatory reports

Manage accounting for endowment and other financial assets

FCC Compliance Officer

Skills/Qualifications

Mastery of accounting principles as it relates to financial reporting and GAAP

Organized and detail oriented

Expert user of Microsoft Excel and other office products

Oracle NetSuite proficiency preferred but not required

Solutions-oriented mindset

Customer-service oriented

Ability to work cross-functionally and across various levels of management

Flexibility in work schedule; 3 days in office minimum

Experience

5 years or more of supervisory experience

7 years or more of accounting/finance experience with at least 5 years of experience in a controller capacity

Media and/or content company experience preferred

Non-profit experience required

Education
Bachelor's degree in accounting. CPA preferred.

Estimated Salary Range
Starting at $100,000 - $150,000/annual
