Structural Steel Project Manager Atlanta, GA | Permanent | Office-Based

Are you a structural steel Project Manager who wants to take ownership of your projects from handoff through delivery?

An established structural steel fabricator is expanding its Atlanta project management team and looking for a PM to support a strong and growing project workload.
This is an office-based position , working directly with customers, General Contractors, detailing, fabrication, vendors, erectors and internal teams to keep structural steel projects moving.
What will you be responsible for?

You'll typically have 4–10 active projects on your desk, with responsibility for keeping the commercial, technical and delivery sides aligned.
Your week could involve reviewing drawings and contracts, resolving an RFI with the design team, coordinating a change with the GC, checking where a fabrication package sits in production, arranging deliveries or reviewing the latest project costs.

Key responsibilities will include:
Owning structural steel projects from contract handoff through delivery
Reviewing drawings, contracts and project requirements
Managing RFIs, changes, purchase orders and subcontracts
Coordinating with GCs, customers, vendors, detailers and erectors
Leading and attending project meetings
Maintaining schedules and tracking key milestones
Coordinating fabrication and steel deliveries
Working closely with production, shipping and other internal departments
Reviewing vendor invoices and project costs
Preparing monthly WIP cost projections
Coordinating pay applications
Visiting project sites when required

What kind of background works?
We're primarily looking for someone who already understands structural steel project delivery .
Around 5–7 years of PM experience would be attractive, but there is flexibility around the exact number of years.

You could already be an established Steel Project Manager, or you might be an Assistant/Developing PM ready for more ownership . Candidates from a General Contractor environment could also be considered if their structural steel exposure is strong enough.
You'll need to be comfortable reading structural drawings and coordinating multiple moving parts without losing sight of cost, schedule or the customer.

Experience with Bluebeam, PDFs, Microsoft Project, Excel and Word is also important.
A two-year associate degree is requested, although extensive directly relevant experience may offset the degree requirement . A four-year Engineering, Construction Management or related degree would be a plus.

This is growth hiring , with additional PM capacity being added to support a substantial pipeline of structural steel work.
You'll be joining an experienced, collaborative team where projects can be matched to your current capability, with the opportunity to take on larger and more complex assignments as you develop .
Compensation will depend on experience. As a guide, candidates with around 3–5 years of relevant experience may sit in the high-$70Ks to low-$90Ks , while stronger and more experienced PMs can be considered above $90K . This is guidance rather than a fixed salary cap.

The setup
This role is based in Atlanta, GA and is office-based Monday through Friday , with occasional travel to project sites as required.

It's best suited to someone who likes being close to the action; communicating with the shop, solving problems, talking to customers and keeping several steel projects moving at once.
