Civil Construction Engineering I

DLZ Corporation is seeking a Civil Engineer – Water, Wastewater and Storm‑water in Detroit, Michigan. The role involves complex municipal water and wastewater projects including treatment facilities, combined sewer overflow facilities, sanitary sewer stations, booster pump stations, and transmission and distribution mains.
Perform site civil, water, wastewater and storm‑water engineering and construction assignments of a complex nature for municipal clients.
Direct engineers and technical support staff in the review and preparation of plans and specifications for water, wastewater, and storm‑water projects.
Direct the planning and development of Water, Wastewater and Stormwater projects from planning and procurement through start‑up and construction.
Prepare construction cost estimates, perform construction monitoring, and coordinate field activities.
Direct the planning and development of project scope, procedures, and budget.
Attend client meetings including project meetings, council meetings, board meetings, etc.; Maintain effective relationships with members of all divisions and departments responsible for performing services related to the project.
Control and/or review project forecasts, schedules, cost estimates and reports. Responsible for project quality control.
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
6 or more years’ experience with Municipal Water and/or Wastewater projects.
Experience in the evaluation, planning, design and construction of one or more of the following: Water & Wastewater Treatment Plants, Pump Stations, Water, Sewer, Stormwater and/or Lift Stations.
Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the State of Michigan required, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
Proficiency with Project Management software preferred.
Strong interpersonal and technical writing skills.
Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites, complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
