UNT's Office of Advising Services is a centralized advising team committed to serving students and the advising community. From pre‑admission through graduation, we eliminate barriers to academic success and increase retention through accessible services including major exploration counseling, prospective advising, and the class concierge service.

Connects students with available resources for academic success and personal/professional development. Master's degree and two years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, professional academic advising, or related experience.

Considerable knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).

Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing.

Experience in an advising office counseling students who present with uncertainty of major, advising transfer students, and/or working with at‑risk populations.

Counsels students regarding information about their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and other personal characteristics.

Presents academic information at new student orientations, exploring majors workshops, and on campus events.

Provides training, and direction to Academic Advisors or other staff as assigned.

Counsels prospective students regarding university requirements and individual program requirements including applicability of transfer credits in a timely and professional manner.

Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm
