As one of the nation's largest nonprofit Catholic healthcare organizations, CommonSpirit Health delivers more than 20 million patient encounters annually through more than 2,300 clinics, care sites and 158 hospital-based locations, in addition to its home-based services and virtual care offerings.As our Laboratory Assistant, you will contribute to the vital operations of our lab, primarily within specimen processing/intake, ensuring efficient and accurate handling of essential samples.Every day you will assist with specimen management and clerical duties, perform blood collection and specimen processing, and potentially conduct waived or moderately complex testing as permitted by regulations and departmental needs.To be successful in this role, you will possess meticulous attention to detail, strong organizational skills, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and safety within our laboratory environment.Processes specimen into the lab, organized for department distribution. Moves processed samples quickly to laboratory departments for testing.Handles Laboratory Send-out testing. Processes, organizes, packing lists, and packaging for testing sent to external laboratories according to procedures.May perform phlebotomy. Follows blood collection procedures, performs venous and capillary punctures on all age groups of inpatient and outpatient populations, including blood bank collections. Utilizes appropriate collection techniques to obtain quality samples and adheres to appropriate volume requirements.Uses good judgment when problem solving and requests help when needed.Required:High School Diploma/G.Preferred:Associate or Bachelor DegreePrevious clinical laboratory experienceMLA (ASCP) or Phlebotomy certification, such as PBT(ASCP) or equivalent certificationLocated in Lakewood, Colorado, St. Anthony Hospital is a Level I Trauma Center where we provide a full range of medical specialties and health care services to Denver and the surrounding region through our state-of-the-art medical campus and home base for Flight For Life® Colorado.
