We are actively seeking an Estimator to join a growing heavy civil and general engineering contractor with a strong presence throughout the North Bay, San Francisco, East Bay, Sonoma, and Napa regions. Work on a diverse mix of heavy civil, site development, utility, concrete, demolition, earthwork, and infrastructure projects across the Bay Area.

Collaborate directly with experienced ownership, project management, and field leadership teams during pursuit strategy and bid development.

Gain exposure to increasingly complex opportunities while helping shape estimating standards, cost databases, and preconstruction processes.

Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, site conditions, and bid documents to fully evaluate project scope, constructability considerations, risks, and pricing opportunities.

Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs for demolition, excavation, grading, utilities, concrete, shoring, helical pile, and site improvement work using industry-standard estimating tools.

Develop accurate self-perform labor, equipment, production, and crew pricing based on historical performance, market conditions, and prevailing wage requirements.

Solicit, analyze, compare, and level subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure complete scope coverage and competitive pricing strategies.

Assemble comprehensive unit price and lump sum proposals for private, commercial, municipal, and public agency projects.

Participate in pre-bid meetings, job walks, site investigations, and client meetings throughout the greater Bay Area to support thorough project evaluation.

Prepare bid summaries, assumptions, qualifications, risk assessments, and recommendation packages for executive review prior to bid submission.

Partner closely with Project Managers and Superintendents to validate means and methods, project phasing, production assumptions, scheduling impacts, and constructability concerns.

Maintain historical pricing information, production data, cost libraries, and estimating benchmarks to improve future estimate accuracy.

Participate in post-bid reviews and project turnover discussions to compare estimated performance against actual project results and strengthen future forecasting.

Represent the organization professionally with owners, developers, general contractors, designers, suppliers, subcontractors, and public agencies throughout the bidding process.

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management , Civil Engineering, or a related field, or a strong track record of equivalent, relevant experience in lieu of a degree.

• 5+ years of estimating experience within heavy civil construction, site development, utilities, grading, excavation, shoring, concrete, deep foundations, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated success performing detailed quantity takeoffs, bid leveling, subcontractor analysis, and complete estimate development.
• Working knowledge of California prevailing wage requirements, public works procurement, and commercial construction bidding practices.
• Expertise with estimating and takeoff platforms such as HeavyBid, Bluebeam Revu, PlanSwift, or similar industry software.
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyze costs, trends, production assumptions, and risk factors with accuracy.
• Strong ability to read and interpret civil, structural, utility, and geotechnical documents and translate technical information into comprehensive pricing strategies.
• Excellent communication skills with the confidence to present pricing recommendations, bid strategy, and risk considerations to leadership.
• Valid California driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the Bay Area for job walks, site evaluations, and client meetings.
• Preferred qualifications include HeavyBid expertise, design-build estimating experience, public agency project exposure, and OSHA 30 certification.
