Janitorial Cleaning Position Day Shift

Janitor – 1st Shift Location: Portsmouth, RI (1847 W Main Rd, NIMITZ BLDG). Shift: 7:30am – 4:00pm. Onsite role.

Responsibilities Work to verbal and written instructions.

Use Raytheon‑approved cleaning materials, solutions, and equipment to perform vacuuming, dusting, sweeping, dry and wet mopping, and floor stripping to remove dirt, old wax, grease, and oil.

Select appropriate cleaning solutions.

Wax, treat, buff, and polish floors.

Wash surfaces including glass partitions, painted surfaces, windows, blinds, walls, handrails, elevators, water fountains, lights, and related reflectors.

Maintain sanitary condition of rest rooms and washrooms, replenishing supplies as required.

Provide waste containers to production and engineering areas, clean up and remove waste material at specified intervals.

Empty and sort waste baskets and move waste to the collection area.

Assist in arranging and placement of equipment for office, conference, or auditorium areas.

Use ladders as necessary to perform general cleaning within rest rooms only.

Perform general maintenance and housekeeping of workplace tools and equipment.

Maintain records, move materials, and follow safety rules in performance of duties.

Perform other similar duties as required or directed.

Equipment and Tools Used Waxes, solvents, soaps, cleaning solutions, polishes, brooms, mops, buckets, applicable PPE, filter masks, rubber gloves, brushes, applicators, buffing machines, vacuum cleaner, ride‑on/walk‑behind equipment, small hand tools, ladders.

Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent.

Minimum 1 year experience in janitorial or cleaning services.

Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government‑issued security clearance (DoD Confidential). U.S. citizenship required.

Additional Information Position part of a collective bargaining agreement. Shift times, wage, and workplace conditions are subject to the agreement. Union representation applies.
