Job Summary: The Patient Transporter courteously greets patients and visitors, providing service to all hospital departments by performing necessary transportation of patients, supplies, equipment, and other materials to required destinations.

Basic Life Support (BLS) within 2 months of hire.

Work Experience: None.

Knowledge of and the ability to retain material given in the required in-services. Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to greet and acknowledge patients in a friendly, professional manner. Transports equipment, supplies, and other materials while following all safety procedures. Answers general information questions about the health system and provides directions to visitors, as needed. Cleans transport equipment, including changing linens and reports any equipment malfunctions to the supervisor. Ensures compliance with all standards of body substance isolation, infection control and hazardous material; Attends cross training sessions to help ease service needs across the department. Assists with training new team members, as needed.

Decision Making: Independent judgment in making minor decisions where alternatives are limited and standard policies/protocols have been established.

Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and/or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff.
