With more than 500 physicians representing virtually every specialty, HPMC strives to distinguish itself as a leading healthcare provider, recognized for providing quality, innovative care in a compassionate manner.HPMC is part of a global healthcare enterprise which owns and operates general hospitals throughout Korea, numerous research centers in the U.S. and Korea including a medical university, and CHAUM (a premier anti-aging life center).Major Responsibilities/Essential FunctionsTo identify and enumerate the responsibilities of plumber under the direct supervision of the Director of Engineering and/or Operations Manager.Assembles, installs, and repair pipes, fittings, and fixtures of steam, heating, cooling, pneumatic, water, and drainage systems.Studies building plans and working drawings to determine work aids required and sequences of installations.Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.Cuts opening in walls and floor to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings.Cuts and threads pipe.Assembles and installs valves, pipe fittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel brass, and lead, and nonmetals, such as glass, vitrified clay, and plastic.Joins pipes by use of screws, bolts, fittings, solder, plastic solvent, caulks joints, Victaulic connectors, welding, soldering, brazing or other methods as prescribes by supervision or engineering instruction.Fills pipe system with steam, water or air and reads pressure gauges to determine whether system is leaking.Installs and repairs plumbing fixtures such as sinks, commodes, bathtubs water heaters, hot water tanks, garbage disposal units, dishwashers, and water softeners. Also is responsible for steam systems equipment such as steam traps, pressure regulators, steam station valves, and other equipment as required.Becomes familiar with hospital medical gas system including but not limited to compressed air, vacuum, oxygen and nitrous oxide. Repairs and maintains plumbing by replacing washers in leaky faucets, mending burst pipes, and opening clogged drains.Maintains tools and equipment in good working conditionsReceives company provided training concerning, but not limited to, Lock Out Tag Out, Confined space Entry, Blood Borne Pathogen, Safety, Accident Reporting and Prevention, etc. Can effectively apply this training during working hours as applicable. Completes required documentation for the hospital in a timely manner. Other duties as assignedJob QualificationsMinimum EducationRequires a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).Preferred EducationN/AMinimum Work Experience and QualificationsAbility to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Must be able to work in a union environment.Computer skills are requiredAbility to read and interpret blueprintsKnowledge of hospital's management and utility systems managementKnowledge, understanding and the ability to research, read, comprehend and apply applicable codes and ordinances is required.Preferred Work Experience and QualificationsExperience of not less than three (3) years working as a plumber in industry is also required with five (5) years' experience preferred.Additional languages preferredRequired Licensure, Certification, Registration or DesignationLos Angeles County Fire Card (required within 30 days of hire)Assault Response Competency (ARC) (required within 30 days of hire)Status: Full Time Shift: Days Hours: 8hrs Weekly Bi-Weekly Hours: 40hrs/80hrs FTE: 1.0
