Position DetailsWork Shift: Day Shift (United States of America)Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40Department: Rheumatology GHSOverview of Position: Provides patient care in the physician office setting. Assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as a primary liaison between patients, families, staff and providersEssential DutiesAssists physicians with examinations and other office procedures.Schedules diagnostic tests, surgeries and pre-admission testing.Performs a variety of tests and procedures including CLIA-waived tests, electrocardiography, respiratory testing, and phlebotomy including venipuncture and capillary puncture.Prepares and administers oral and parenteral (excluding IV) medications and immunizations as directed by physician and permitted by state law.Practices Standard Precautions, including hand washing and biohazardous materials; applies principals of aseptic technique and infection controls.Maintains examination/treatment rooms, including inventory of supplies and equipment.Recognizes and responds to emergencies.Accurately documents patient communication and clinical treatments, including medication and immunization records.Must have one of the following qualifications or obtain within six months from hire: (1) Certified Medical Assistant through appropriate board (i.e. American Association of Medical Assistants), (2) registered through appropriate board (i.e. The American Registry of Medical Assistants).Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology required.Demonstrated pharmacology knowledge and ability to administer medication.Knowledge of office practices, patient relations, and medical law and ethics.Demonstrated understanding of various coding and reimbursement systems including ICD, CPT required.Ability to analyze and interpret clinical data and excellent critical thinking skills to make appropriate interventions.Patient Centered Care & Behavioral ExpectationsLiving the Genesis Mission, Vision and Values:Performs work in a manner that is quality focused.Acknowledges and responds to the diversity of people and the situation.Always makes the effort to anticipate and exceed customer needs and expectations.Patient Centered Care (patients/families, physicians, co-workers, all other internal/external customers):Introduces self and role…connects with everyone.manages confidential/sensitive information appropriately.Exits patient/customer encounters courteously, asking if there are additional needs that can be addressed.Demonstrates safe Patient Handling (i.e. transfers, transport, care administration, nutrition, medication, etc.)Demonstrates safe Materials Handling (i.e. appropriate use and disposal of chemicals, infectious wastes, etc.)Demonstrates appropriate knowledge of Infectious Disease precautions and use of proper protective equipmentDemonstrates Slips/Trips and Falls Awareness.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Ability to work in an environment with exposure to potentially dangerous/infectious materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions that may include the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).Occasional overtime may be required and/or hours may be shortened as business needs dictate.
