This is a small team of highly motivated people designing, testing, and flying advanced mechanical systems. The hardware focus is on high reliability safety critical mechanisms and structures, with significant cross-functional development with the Systems, Avionics, GNC, Software, Manufacturing, and Flight Test teams. The position will be located at our facility in Mountain View, California, reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager.ResponsibilitiesDesign, analyze, build, test, and fly a system of actuators, mechanisms, and structural modifications to enable remote piloted aircraftWork with a team of top performing mechanical engineers alongside the greater Reliable team of outstanding Electrical, Systems, Software, GNC, Manufacturing, and Flight Test engineersOwn your hardware from concept through flight test and certification . . . this is cradle-to-grave engineering with hands-on build, test, and integrationBring a sense of humility, and be ready to both learn and teachBasic Success CriteriaBS in mechanical or aerospace engineering, or equivalent experience2+ years professional experience developing mechanical systemsExperience with current CAD and FEM packagesExperience in innovative system designsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAttention to detailPreferred CriteriaExpertise in electromechanical or mechanical engineeringDemonstrated ability to drive designs to closureExperience taking designs through FAA certificationDesign for manufacturability and volume productionPrevious experience with aircraft or other safety-critical mechanical systemsFlight and/or ground test familiarity or experienceMust be willing to travel up to 10% of the time.The estimated salary range for this position is $118,000 to $170,000/annual salary + cash and stock option awards + benefits.
