Travel ICU RN - Night Shift RN

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU position requiring a minimum of 2 years of experience, Epic proficiency, and night shift availability.

Requirements

Active NE state or compact (NLC) RN license required; pending licenses are not accepted

Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required; pending certifications are not accepted

Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required

Epic EMR experience required

Driver's license required for consideration and is used to verify residence outside the 50-mile radius

Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire

Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility

Candidates may not currently be employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) at any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI or Dignity Health

Responsibilities

Acute care ICU setting with 16 beds

Patient population includes a variety of high-acuity ICU patients including vented patients, BIS scoring, TTM, and occasional IABP

Patient ratio is 1:2, occasionally 1:3

RNs are required to titrate drips including vasopressors/inotropes, sedatives, heparin, octreotide, and insulin

eICU support is available in 14 of the 16 rooms

A charge nurse is present on each shift and carries an assignment

No nurse aides or patient care techs on the unit

Charting is done in Epic

12‑hour night shifts (7p–7a)

Every 3rd weekend required (Friday and Saturday nights count as weekend shifts); 6 weekend shifts per 6‑week scheduling period

Holidays are rotated with permanent staff

Floating to PCU or MedSurg may be required

13‑week contract

Orientation consists of classroom training followed by 2 twelve‑hour shifts on the unit

A pass/fail open‑book exam is administered on the Friday of orientation week; a score of 90% or higher is required to pass — failure to pass results in contract termination

Navy blue scrubs are required

Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove them will result in contract termination

RTO requests of 7 days or fewer per 13‑week contract must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved
