Head of Programming, Conferences, and Events

Program CoordinatorThe Program Coordinator supports the mission of the Multicultural Life and Diversity Office (MLDO) by developing, coordinating and facilitating educational programs, training initiatives, and dialogue opportunities that promote inclusive excellence, intercultural learning, belonging, and student success. The Program Coordinator collaborates with students, faculty, staff, residence life and housing, and campus partners to support engagement opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds and coordinates the Annual Student Conference on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion (DEI) and Social Justice. This position requires evening and weekend availability to support programs and events, as needed.Major Responsibilities include:Annual Student Conference on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Social JusticeResidence Life and Housing DEI Programming and TrainingCampus Education, Engagement, Outreach, and RepresentationProfessional Development and CollaborationFunctional and Supervisory Relationships include:Reports to the Assistant Director of Multicultural Life and Diversity Office (MLDO)Collaborates across the university with other offices, departments, and student groupsCollaborates with Residence Life and Housing staffSupervises a student employee/internRequired Qualifications include:Bachelor's degreeExperience planning programs, providing student support services, facilitating training, or working with diverse populationsPreferred Qualifications include:Masters degree in higher education, student affairs, counseling, social work, education or related fieldExperience working in higher educationExperience planning large-scale events, conferences, or leadership programsConversational or professional proficiency in a language other than EnglishKnowledge, Skills & Abilities include:Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends, as neededStrong written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skillsStrong organizational, project management, and event-planning skillsDemonstrated ability to develop and facilitate educational programs, workshops, training, and dialogue-based learning experiencesDemonstrated ability to build relationships and work effectively with individuals from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiencesAbility to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needsKnowledge of student development, identity development, intercultural learning, inclusive practices, and/or social justice educationProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other technology platforms used for communication, data management, and program coordinationAbout the UniversityEEO Statement - SUNYCortland is an AA/EEO/ADA employer and encourages applications from women, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and members of underrepresented groups.
