Histotechnician I - Histology Lab

Labcorp is seeking a Histotechnologist to join our team in Phoenix, AZ.Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 2:00 pm - 10:30 pm.Process human tissue and body fluid specimens in preparation for microscopic examPerform technical duties related to the production of histopathological slides of surgical specimensSection the embedded tissue, using a microtome and mount the section properly on a microscope slideProcess mounted sections through routine and special staining proceduresProperly orient and embed surgical tissue specimensPrepare the stains and reagents needed for special proceduresReport accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient careOperate and maintain manual and automated instrumentsPerform and document equipment maintenance as neededRecord equipment log data in an accurate and timely mannerPerform and document preventive maintenance and quality control proceduresAdhere to the laboratory's quality control policiesFollow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, analysis and reportingDocument problems that may affect test performance and perform corrective actions when neededMinimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Histology OR a Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Histology, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology with 1 or more years of histology experience Preferred Qualification:Current or prior Labcorp experience Histology and/or ASCP certifications Additional Job StandardsFamiliarity with routine histology procedures and equipment Immunohistochemistry experience Comfortability embedding both large and small specimens Ability to accurately read all labels and documents Highly organized with a strong attention to detail Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment Familiarity with laboratory SOPs and safety protocols Able to pass a standardized color blindness test $5,000 Sign On Bonus (active Labcorp employees not eligible)At Labcorp we have a passion in helping people live happy and healthy lives.
