Temporary Meteorologist (Part-time)

Fox61 has a full-time opening for a Meteorologist/Multiskilled Journalist to join our team.

As a meteorologist, you will anchor the weather for weekend shows and other various newscasts. You will be responsible for preparing and delivering accurate weather reports on-air and online in a conversational manner. This includes tracking storms using the latest technology and/or reporting live from the field. You will also create original content for our Fox61+ streaming platform.

As a MSJ, you will create compelling content for all FOX61 platforms, from TV to digital platforms to social media. The successful candidate will have experience finding, developing and pitching quality news stories every day; shooting, writing, and editing assigned stories under deadline pressure; Develop story ideas, write, shoot, and edit news stories for on-air, streaming on Fox61+, and fox61.Enterprise original news and weather content for our streaming platform

Deliver on-air news events in an engaging, compelling, and accurate manner

Strong social media skills, including an active news hound presence on X, Facebook, and Instagram

Present the weather in our weekend newscasts and as needed on other shifts

Provide accurate and compelling weather forecasts on multiple platforms

Prepare and deliver severe weather updates, interrupting regular programming as necessary

Update website and engage with viewers on social media platforms daily

Work in the field, on special projects and other duties as assigned

Make public appearances and attend community events

Operate news gathering vehicle to and from various locations

Degree in Meteorology and/or Broadcast Journalism with demonstrated weather experience or equivalent experience as a television weather on-air talent

Experience in photojournalism, video editing and content management systems

Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events

Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, early mornings and holidays

Fill in for Meteorologists on various days and shifts to cover vacation and time off

Provide forecast information to the station’s website, social media and news ticker as required
