Prep/Full or Part Time

We are looking for an experienced Prep Cook at Gustav's! You will be preparing and cooking a variety of dishes and many classic german recipes for restaurant guests to enjoy. You are passionate about creating exceptional dining experiences through good, quality food. With previous experience as a prep cook, you are able to manage multiple priorities and contribute to a friendly and productive team atmosphere. Ideally, we are looking for individuals who want to grow within our culinary team.

About Us: Gustav's is a locally owned German Restaurant that has become an institution in the Portland area for the last 30 years. NW Hospitality Group has recently acquired the legendary Gustav's with the intention of keeping the restaurant around for years to come. You may know us from our other local establishments, Amaro's Table and Cecilia. We are excited to take on this new venture and are looking for hospitality and culinary professionals to join our team!

Cook and prepare a variety of food products including meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables, sauces, stocks, breads and other food products using a variety of equipment and utensils according to the Daily Prep List.

Refer to Daily Prep List and Checklists at the start of each shift for assigned duties.

Prepares a variety of meats, seafood, poultry, vegetables and other food items for cooking in broilers, ovens, grills, fryers and a variety of other kitchen equipment.

Understands and complies consistently with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards and kitchen rules, policies and procedures.

Portions food products prior to cooking according to standard portion sizes and recipe specifications.

Maintains a clean and sanitary work station area including tables, shelves, walls, grills, broilers, fryers, pasta cookers, sauté burners, convection oven, flat top range and refrigeration equipment.

Closes the kitchen properly and follows the closing checklist for kitchen stations.

Assists others in closing the kitchen.

Promptly reports equipment and food quality problems to Kitchen Manager.

Inform Kitchen Manager immediately of product shortages.

Performs other related duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager, Chef or manager-on-duty.

Previous experience as a prep cook preferred.

Have working knowledge of the predominant language(s) of our guests.

Food Handler’s certification (or must be willing to attain)

Both part-time and full-time positions available, with schedule flexibility.

Closed for major holidays: 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
