Registered nurse provides professional nursing care for clinic patients following established standards and practices. Cardiac‑vascular nurse possesses advanced knowledge and skill in cardiac nursing, demonstrates critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership in anticipation and planning for patient care.

Participates as part of an interdisciplinary care team in the treatment of cardiac‑vascular conditions such as heart failure, heart valve disorders, high blood pressure, vascular disorders, heart attack and arrhythmia

Interprets data and responds to urgent situations in a way that optimizes patient care and produces positive outcomes

Uses analytical skills to review test results, draw conclusions, and advise on treatment plans

Works closely with cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, electrophysiologists, and other physicians in the care and treatment of the full range of cardiovascular conditions

Participates in clinical trials and clinical research programs as needed

Documents legible and concise entries in the medical record

Documents complete medical history on each patient at initial session and updates the medical record appropriately with each visit

Performs medication reconciliation on each visit

Helps diagnose and treat cardiovascular events

Makes critical decisions regarding the initiation of emergency medical procedures as appropriate

Greets patients and prepares them for physician’s examination

Provides general nursing care as necessary for office treatment

Instructs patients in sample collection and tests

Arranges for patient testing and admissions

Responds to and refers incoming telephone calls

Administers medications in accordance with physician orders

Maintains current knowledge to ensure a safe working environment and demonstrates practical application of all policies and procedures related to safety and infection control

Projects a positive image of the facility in all interactions and supports effective team functioning

Graduation from an accredited school of registered nursing is required.

Minimum of three years registered nurse cardiac‑vascular experience in an acute care or cardiology clinic setting required.

Current unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse in accordance with state regulations

Cardiac Medicine Certification (CMC) through AACN preferred

Cardiac Vascular Nursing Certification (CV‑BC) through ANCC preferred
