General Summary of Position Possesses and demonstrates adequate knowledge to provide respiratory care to all patient populations with technique appropriate to chronological social emotional cognitive and physical development. Respiratory care delivered is ordered by physician according to established standards practice and protocols.
PRN - Various shifts available. Days, Nights, Weekends, Holidays.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Assesses the physical psychosocial spiritual & cultural dimensions of the patient as well as educational needs and appropriately documents.
Performs all respiratory therapy treatments and services including but not limited to: application operation monitoring and management of all equipment and services provided. Service to include but not limited to: oxygen mixed gas and humidity; monitoring; bronchial hygiene; Spirometry testing; Blood Gas Analysis.
Employs principles of therapeutic communication interviewing techniques problem solving and crisis intervention when performing patient care.
Reviews electronic medical records and physician orders throughout work shift.
Responds performs and participates in cardiopulmonary resuscitation by maintaining the airway providing oxygen and ventilation via mask endotracheal tube or other devices and performs closed chest cardiac massage.
Facilitates workflow efficiency monitoring interdepartmental systems and processes departmental policies and procedures and making recommendations for improvements as needed.
Complies with all policies and standards.
Where applicable refers to the competency validation documents for population(s) served.
Minimal Qualifications Education Associate's degree Graduate of an AMA accredited program in respiratory care with an AAS Degree or higher required and
Bachelor's degree Baccalaureate degree in related healthcare field preferred
Experience Less than 1 year Acute Care experience. Licenses and Certifications RCP - Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner Must process and maintain license to practice Respiratory Care in Maryland and/or the District of Columbia based on hospital location. CRT - Certified Respiratory Therapist Licensed as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is required. RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist Registered respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) is preferred. CPR - Cardiac Pulmonary Resuscitation (includes BLS and NRP) for healthcare providers from either the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within 90 Days required and

Day Shift - NO Call or Weekends
High school diploma or equivalent. Successful completion of Surgical Technician program or successfully completed an Accelerated Alternative Delivery Surgical Technology (AAD-ST) certificate program.
Surgical Technician certification preferred.
Minimum of one years prior experience as a Surgical Technician, Endocopy preferred.
Under direction of a Registered Nurse performs duties in the operating room to assist the surgical team in surgical services such as scrubbing on all types of operative procedures, obtaining and preparing instruments and equipment and maintaining a clean and safe surgical environment. The JHSCS Surgical Technician will flex to the Central Sterile Processing Unit and other areas of the JHSCS when needed to support the daily operations of the JHSCS.
Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. The Hospital reserves the right to modify employee schedules as needed.
