RN-Registered Nurse Telemetry - Weekend Day Shift - Telemetry

Registered Nurse (RN) - MS/Tele
This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care in a medical-surgical and telemetry environment. The position requires adaptability and a strong skill set in managing a diverse patient population.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
Willingness to accept first-time travelers
Accepts local candidates with rate differences
Experience with MED/Surg and Telemetry monitoring
Ability to use the Rapid Response Team effectively
Proficient in interpreting dysrhythmias
Knowledge of IV insulin protocols, colostomy care, and feeding tube management
Experienced in pre/post hemodialysis management and blood product administration
Central line blood draws, peripheral line care, and phlebotomy skills
PICC line management and IV initiation
Familiarity with heparin protocols and PCA management
Ability to manage chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac) and non-invasive airway management
Proficient in oxygen therapy techniques and isolation precautions
Wound care and wound vac management experience
Certifications
~ BCLS certification required

Preferred Skills & Experience
MS/Tele experience
Telemetry monitoring on unit
Accessing ports, insulin management, and CVA care
Experience with surgical drains and ABG interpretation
Tracheostomy management skills preferred
Familiarity with EPIC documentation system
Shift and Scheduling
Target nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:5-6. Shifts are 12 hours, with options for 36 or 48 hours per week. Contract lengths vary from 13 to 20 weeks.
Available shifts: Day shifts
Floating to other units may be required
Weekend requirements: 12-16 shifts per contract
Important Notes
Contract staff will be assigned to both Storm Team and Hurricane Team duties and may be required to report to work during catastrophic events or disasters. The orientation period includes a 24-hour unit orientation and a week of hospital orientation where travelers must be available for classes each day. Scrubs should be navy and white.
Patient Demographics
Typical patient diagnoses include dementia, diabetes, COVID-19, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, encephalopathy, GI bleed, anemia, and hip fractures. Experience in managing diverse medical-surgical diagnoses is essential.
