Radiation Therapists implement plans of treatment, prescribed by an oncologist and created by a medical dosimetrist, and use accelerators and ionizing radiation-producing equipment to treat diseases, primarily different kinds of cancer. It can also be used to prevent the recurrence of particularly malignant forms of cancer after surgery.
Determine and deliver appropriate patient treatment plans in collaboration with physicians and dosimetrists.
Monitor and document patient's condition and report any adverse reactions.
Check and adjust necessary equipment, including linear accelerators.
Graduate of a CAHEA approved School of Radiation Therapy technology or registry eligible
Registered Radiation Therapist through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT), R.Current state licensure as a Radiation Therapist
Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
Experience with radiation oncology specific electronic medical records as well as record and verify
Can utilize computer programs to input database and capture information
Experience with external radiation therapy, IMRT, IGRT and CT simulation

Requires ability to lift materials weighing up to 35 lbs.
Requires dexterity sufficient to perform computer functions.
Requires Safe Operating Procedure for x-ray generating equipment.
Requires ability to work the hours of operation - flexible.
Requires ability to take "call" on weekdays and weekends based on a rotational schedule.
Requires ability to float to other CCHS facilities when needed.
