Client Service Support Rep

The Institutional Client Advisor serves as the primary point of contact for our institutional clients and limited partners. This senior role is instrumental in driving client satisfaction, retention, and growth across our investment platform. Individuals in this role seek to provide institutional clients with consultative support that amplifies the firm’s investment messaging and elevates each client’s assessment of Lord Abbett as an investment manager and partner, thereby complementing the efforts of our Institutional Directors to deepen and grow the firm’s enterprise relationships with our clients. Success in the role will depend on collaborating with Institutional Directors, Marketing, Investments, and a centralized account operations team to optimize the delivery of relationship alpha, investment alpha, and operating alpha to our clients.

Develop a deep understanding of each client’s organizational structure and priorities.

Provide a single point of contact for all inquiries and touchpoints, ensuring a highly proactive and responsive service experience that meets client needs, amplifies the firm’s investment messaging, and creates relationship alpha.

Collaborate with Institutional Directors to deepen the firm’s relationships with institutional allocators and their field consultants.

Develop and maintain strategic account plans for each key client, outlining relationship status, consultant involvement, cross-sell targets, and risk factors. Proactively communicate with clients regarding investment performance, capital market updates, new investment opportunities, and relevant firm or industry developments.

Advise clients on potential allocations across the firm’s offerings, tailoring our messaging to fit the unique context of the client’s asset pool(s).

Partner with Institutional sales team to retain assets, garner additional contributions and win new mandates with our clients.

Portfolio Managers), Marketing (Product Management) and client account operations to facilitate the institutional client operating model.

Ensure that all new mandates are thoroughly profiled and vetted internally so that customizations and service requirements are understood and agreed upon prior to onboarding.

Maintain consistent communication with Account Operations team and Marketing to ensure that client lifecycle operations and service requirements are handled promptly and effectively.

Represent the individual and collective views of our clients to ensure their needs and preferences inform the evolution of our investment offering and service delivery.

You’ll need to have: Experience: 10+ years of experience in institutional client relations, marketing or institutional sales within asset management. Bachelor’s degree preferably in Finance, Business, or related field required. MBA or relevant postgraduate degree is a plus. Professional certifications such as CFA or CAIA are strongly preferred, reflecting a strong foundation in investment concepts and ethics.

Deeply knowledgeable about public and private capital markets and institutional investor pools. Able to confidently discuss portfolio construction, performance drivers, and risk factors with sophisticated investors. Skills: Exceptional communication skills – both verbally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to engage and influence executive teams – capable of building trust and rapport with clients and internal stakeholders alike. Able to interpret and explain performance metrics and analytics. Able to influence and coordinate colleagues outside of direct reporting lines to serve client needs.

Thrives in a fast-paced environment and remains calm and structured when facing client deadlines or complex requests. Willingness to travel (~10-20%, or as needed) to visit clients and represent the firm at industry events and investor meetings.
