Responsibilities As a Construction Worker/Assistant, you are responsible for providing general labor for aerial and underground construction projects. Be responsible for various manual tasks, such as digging trenches, unloading construction materials, and preparing work sites using hand tools like shovels, rakes, and picks. Work on outdoor utility construction sites. Transport heavy equipment to and from the work site daily. Build and maintain aerial and underground cabling systems. Solve problems that arise in the field. Learn and train in the use of different types of tools and equipment. Work locally 50% of the year and travel the other 50% within the Midwest region. Work on travel projects of 7 to 10 days, with workweeks of more than 50 hours. You have at least 1 year of experience working outdoors, preferably in a utility or construction environment. You are team-oriented and willing to work in the field with your crew. You seek long-term opportunities and growth within telecommunications construction (fiber splicing, coaxial, drilling, etc.). You are willing and able to obtain a DOT medical card if necessary. You have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for the last 3 years (CDL preferred). You are available to travel Monday to Friday with included per diem (up to 50% within MN/WI and workweeks of more than 50 hours weekly, depending on weather), as well as to work consistent overtime.
